Background:
In June 2008 the three levels of government announced a $5.6m rejuvenation of Central Park, ($1m of that donated by local businessman Gerry Gray). The work includes restoration of the Waddell Fountain, an artificial turf soccer pitch, toboggan slide and a large water spray park.

August 7, 2009 Update:
Central Park's multi-million dollar renovation is coming along nicely.
The Waddell Fountain was returned earlier in the summer, the grass and well-worn furniture is long gone. The crushed stone you see in the photos is the base for the soccer pitch. It will be artificial turf so that it can be used right up until the snow flies and the stones are required for proper drainage.
The rain has caused some setbacks but generally the project is on track. (For more photos)

October 2009 Update:
Work is now coming along on the narrow stretch of the park that goes from Qu'appelle Ave to Ellice. It will be a raised toboggan hill with play area. Also, the artifical turf has been laid !

At long last, the Central Park revitalization is complete ! The opening ceremony took place August 26, 2010.
